About

Kate Kurucz

Kate Kurucz is a painter working on Kaurna Land, South Australia, whose practice explores absurdity and the sublime. Graduating in 2012 from the Adelaide Central School of Art, Kurucz's work often uses copper as a painting surface due to its ability to foreground painterly gestures, as well as its conductive and alchemic associations. Current areas of interest include extra-terrestrial communication, Antarctic exploration, Drive-in theaters and the number of grapefruit on the Titanic.
